Holy Names Sisters founded Marie Rose House in Wapato Washington in 1992 to be a place of spiritual and educational ministry in a rural agricultural town located within the traditional lands of the Yakama Nation. Wapato, with a population of about 4,500 inside city limits, and a school district with over 3,000 students, is disproportionately young and poor. Our youth are Native American, Latino, and Filipino, with a tiny minority of "others." I am one of the "others," but NOT a youth!
